About The Position

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting the quality and performance of products from the receipt of raw materials and component, through the testing process, to final test and customer acceptance of the product according to Melwood, customer and industry standards. To monitor the process to ensure all requirements are met in accordance with Melwood procedures and applicable codes of practice.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Strong technical skills, good observation abilities, strong planning and organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, including ability to translate technical information into lay language and vice versa.
  • Must be able to perform physical duties and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to make logical decisions using sound, professional judgment.
  • He/she must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekdays, early mornings, evenings and weekends; overtime mandatory when needed.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a “secret” clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates and conducts inspections and ensures that all hold points on the in-process inspection checklist have been met and products are identified properly. Accurately document the results of the inspections and testing.
  • Prepares nonconformity reports when a problem is detected in the inspection process. Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective action to supervise. Ensures that corrective actions are taken and are acceptable to the Melwood and customer.
  • Inspects work of subcontractors that build, paint and assemble units to ensure compliance with Melwood’s standards.
  • Inspects materials in Receiving Department for damage, proper size of components and other applicable test reports according to Melwood’s specifications.
  • Provides technical assistance and information to mechanics, operators, supervisors and managers.
  • Performs internal and external audits for ASME, ISO and supplier programs as well as internal procedural and system audits to ensure product quality. Maintain all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participate in the construction and/or revision of SOPs for the inspection function. Assist in the writing and updating inspection procedures, protocol and checklists.
  • Maintain standards of safety and comply with Melwood’s Health, Safety & Environment Management System requirements.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
