About The Position

Sierra West Airlines is seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector to support and oversee inspection, compliance, and maintenance activities within our Part 135 on-demand cargo operation. This role is responsible for ensuring aircraft are maintained, documented, and released in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations and company procedures, while supporting both in-house and contract maintenance operations.

Requirements

  • 5 years technical experience within a Part 135,125,121 or 145 repair station, of which at least three years are in an inspector capacity.
  • Familiar with guidance materials under Part 43.
  • Airframe and Power Plant license, an Inspector Authorization preferred however not required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of procedures for completing FAA paperwork including FAR’s, FAA Orders, Advisory Circulars, Form 337, Form 8130-3, Form 8110, STC’s and other pertinent paperwork.
  • Knowledge of inspection and certification process, a general working knowledge of the various aircraft and familiarity with pertinent FAR’s and technical reference materials.
  • Ability to work within the various software applications utilized throughout the corporation.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and passport.
  • Must pass background screening and airport screening.
  • Ability to move up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to be on your feet or sit down for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Quality Control / Quality Assurance function, ensuring all maintenance, documentation, parts, and materials comply with applicable FARs and company procedures.
  • Ensure all inspections are properly performed and that inspection records, reports, and forms are completed prior to releasing aircraft to service.
  • Assure proper execution of maintenance releases and final acceptance of incoming materials, parts, and outside-vendor work.
  • Coordinate and support outstation and off-site maintenance activities, including logistics and documentation required for return to service.
  • Perform audits of contract maintenance vendors and maintain audit records.
  • Maintain oversight of the Company Aircraft Maintenance Program and recommend procedural updates to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and ensure maintenance personnel training is current and properly documented.
  • Develop, write, and maintain training manuals and materials for mechanics, inspectors, Flight Docs, RII, engine runs, dye penetrant inspection, and other required programs.
  • Oversee FAASTeam training participation and compliance.
  • Maintain aircraft, engine, and propeller logbooks, including maintenance entries, inspections, MELs, ADs, SBs, ferry permits, and non-routine maintenance.
  • Manage Flight Docs entries, including aircraft inspections, non-routines, flight times, and reconciliation of pilot flight logs.
  • Maintain technical libraries, digital records, and SharePoint archives.
  • Ensure calibrated tooling is maintained in serviceable condition and within required calibration intervals.
  • Monitor hangar safety and participate in risk identification and risk management activities.
  • Assist with inspections, troubleshooting, and hands-on maintenance support, including parts removal and installation, as authorized.
  • Provide after-hours maintenance support on a rotating basis.
  • Track pilot and mechanic write-ups, identify recurring discrepancies, and prepare maintenance items for internal review meetings.
  • Approve invoices related to technical publications, training, and quality-related expenses.
