The Quality Control Inspector ensures that all fabricated steel components meet the required specifications and quality standards. This includes inspecting dimensions, welds, paint coverage, hole placements and documentation throughout the production process. The role supports and maintains inspection records, supports continuous improvement, assists in various quality control training modules and collaborates with production and engineering teams.

  • Inspect fabricated parts and assemblies for correct dimensions, hole sizes, weld quality, and paint finish
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards (AISC, AWS), job specifications and blueprints
  • Document inspections, oversee all Nonconformance reports (NCR’s) and Engineering change requests (ECR’s) and report nonconformities to production and/or engineering
  • Make site visits to inspect outsourced fabrication when required
  • Support training and improvement of quality procedures
  • Scan and file prints and quality control documents in respective job files
  • Inspect incoming materials for conformance to purchase orders and specifications
  • Assist with material handling and movement of parts as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Must perform all duties in accordance with all safety rules and procedures. Identify and report unsafe acts and unsafe conditions to management immediately. Correct unsafe conditions wherever possible.
  • 3+ years of experience in steel fabrication quality inspection
  • Strong blueprint reading and weld evaluation skills
  • Familiarity with AWS/AISC standards and DFT measurement
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Effective communication and documentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  • Work with fractions, decimals, and measurement conversions
  • Understand tolerances and interpret precision measurements
  • Apply basic geometry for layout and inspection tasks
  • Overhead crane and forklift experience a plus
  • Technical training in welding or quality preferred
