About The Position

Cleaveland/Price specializes in the design and manufacture of high voltage disconnect switches and switch automation products. The products that we offer are unique in design, and some include patented features. Products have been developed and tested in accordance with IEEE, ANSI, and NEMA standards for high voltage equipment. They are primarily used by investor-owned and public electric utilities and large industrial operations in substation, distribution, transmission, and generation applications. All company operations take place in a modern 218,300 sq. ft. multi-site facility situated on 20 acres east of Trafford, PA. The facility houses virtually all resources for product realization, including engineering, supply chain, parts fabrication, electro-mechanical assembly, and testing. Fabrication capabilities include laser and plasma cutting, CNC machining, CNC punching, and automated bending and forming. The company also utilizes specialized processes, such as MIG and TIG welding, friction welding, silver and tin electroplating, and silver brazing. The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring the quality of fabricated parts and/or switch assemblies before they advance to the next stage of production, whether for internal departments or external customers. This role requires meticulous inspection skills, effective use of measuring equipment, and the ability to interpret detailed engineered drawings and manufacturing instructions (MI's). Clear communication across shifts and departments is essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in quality control or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in quality control inspection, preferably in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturing instructions (MI's).
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and other job-related computer programs and software for documentation and reporting purposes.
  • Efficient organization skills to track inspections.
  • Strong math, technical and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of quality control standards and testing techniques.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate well with others interdepartmentally.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process and final inspections of Switch, LineScope, and Interrupter Assembly areas.
  • Read and interpret Manufacturing Information (MI) sheets to verify assembly steps and requirements.
  • Decipher engineering-provided assembly drawings to ensure assemblies meet design specifications.
  • Utilize and understand Assembly Dashboards to monitor production status.
  • Inspect assemblies for correct component installation, torque specifications, and funcionality.
  • Document and report assembly inspection results, including any nonconformances or deviations.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of assembly-related quality issues in collaboration with Engineering and Production teams (when applicable).
  • Ensure compliance with all Cleaveland/Price quality standards and customer requirements for assembled products.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by leaders.
