About The Position

The Quality Compliance Manager will be working in our Front Royal, VA wafer & cracker plant (located 80 minutes from downtown Washington D.C) which produces more than 150M lbs. per year! This is our one of our largest plants in North America which employs 350+ non-union team members. This state of the art facility is nearly 400k sq. ft., operates with 6 highly automated production lines and possess a strong team-oriented culture. Job Scope: The Quality Compliance Manager will have the drive and ability to lead implementation and the sustainability of the compliance process & supplier quality program with minimal oversight. Ability to influence/lead internal personnel, customers, and suppliers to meet quality objectives is required. The position reports directly into the site Quality Assurance Manager. Core schedule: Monday-Friday 7am-4pm, with the ability to flex to support business needs.

  • Problem solving: Create hypothesis for a challenge, elaborate on test plans, analyze and interpret results, critical thinking.
  • RCA-CAPA Tools (5-Why, Fishbone, etc.)
  • 4-year College or university degree in food science, microbiology, biology or experimental scientist related background is preferred or four years of related experience and/or training.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in quality compliance, product compliance and/or commercialization in food manufacturing, product development or similar discipline, in a food or beverage manufacturing segment is required.
  • Familiar with state and federal food processing regulations.
  • Knowledge and training of SQF/BRC is needed and a certification is a plus.
  • HACCP and PCQI certifications are ideal.
  • Must be accurate and detail oriented.
  • Excel (conditional formatting, formulas, drop downs, trend charting, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and at times independently.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, understand, and develop plans to comply with customer requirements.
  • Create metrics to monitor compliance per customer and agency requirements
  • Facilitate all customer and 3rd party audits
  • Manage audit related CAPA (Corrective Action Preventive Action) to closure
  • Serve as technical liaison/leader for the facility/procurement on supplier related defects and improvement opportunities
  • With procurement develop a supplier rating, corrective/preventative process to improve supplier quality
  • Partner with Quality Systems on supplier approval, incoming ingredient requirements, and ingredient hazard analysis
  • Act as primary quality resource and coordinator on sanitary design & change control activities
  • Facilitate all internal auditing processes & maintain/perform training on departmental-specific policies, procedures and programs
  • Manage compliance schedules with all departments
  • Ensure all HACCP and Food Safety Plans are up to date, verified, and validated
  • Support Quality Manager and commercialization teams in integrating customer and compliance requirements into internal specifications
  • Support Quality Assurance department as necessary, in other areas.
  • Serve as a backup for the Quality Manager if needed during his/her absence.
