About The Position

BAE Systems, provider of some of the world’s most advanced, technology-led defense, aerospace, and security solutions, is actively seeking a Quality/CMM Inspector to support our Quality Assurance team in our Louisville, KY facility. In this position as a Quality/CMM Inspector, you will support on the, "1st Shift", Monday through Thursday, 6 AM to 4 PM. As an Inspector, you will be responsible for developing quality plans, quality assurance procedures, performing layout work on applicable measurement equipment using Faro, Leica or similar laser inspection equipment and offline programming using PCDMIS CAD or Spatial Analyzer software.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a High School diploma (or GED or equivalent) and 8 years related work experience, or an Associates Degree and 6 years related work experience, or a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years related work experience, or the overall equivalent;
  • Working experience with Ansi Y14.5 GD&T;
  • Experience reading and working with blueprints;
  • Work history with portable CMM/Metrology Inspection and Alignment;
  • Understanding of and the ability to use shop math;
  • Possesses effective communication skills, both verbal and in writing, to convey information;
  • Computer literacy required to be able to prepare appropriate reports and documents. Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.);
  • Familiarity with ISO9000 environment preferred.
  • Attention to detail while working independently in a production environment is required
  • Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively (orally and in writing) in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience performing inspection and alignment with Laser Trackers;
  • Portable Metrology experience using Spatial Analyzer or equivalent software;
  • CMM programming and operation using PC-Dmis or equivalent software;
  • Mechanical Inspection of weldments and complex machined parts;
  • CMS Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and interprets customer drawings and specifications and identifies appropriate inspection methods.
  • Interprets geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) specifications.
  • Basic programming of CMM to inspect parts to drawing & specification requirements.
  • Evaluates nonconforming material to determine final disposition.
  • Provides support to Manufacturing Engineering and other business units.
  • Assist and maintain calibration and operational status of the CMM system in accordance with requirements and BAE procedures.
  • Assure accurate documentation to provide objective evidence of inspections, whether it be via CMM or other tools/equipment.
  • Uses laser tracker to align components to machine coordinates.
  • Interpret inspection results and create inspection data packages.
  • Supports when needed on other shifts and/or via overtime.
