About The Position

The QA Technician is responsible for day-to-day monitoring, testing and documentation of food products, packaging materials and processes at various points during production and packaging stages in accordance with Safe Quality Food (SQF) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). Hours are generally 6am to 4pm Monday-Friday- end time may vary, as business needs change.

Requirements

  • Must be bi-lingual (Spanish).
  • Must have at least one year of Quality experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Good writing, mathematics, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to read weights and count.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Adapt and accept changes based on production demands and schedules (may require overtime and/or evening or weekend scheduling).
  • Excellent attendance is required.
  • Must be able to work in a cold refrigerated (40 degrees) environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and move product on a regular basis.
  • Ability to bend, reach, twist, push, and pull without restriction.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous quality and GMP experience, preferably in a food manufacturing environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for adhering to food safety and quality systems by committing to meet regulatory, customer, SQF, current GMPs, company policies and procedures, and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) requirements.
  • Conduct thorough and detailed quality audits of lines to ensure products meet established food safety and quality standards, adhering to established product specifications and procedures.
  • Immediately report food safety and quality issues to management, document findings and ensure that appropriate corrective actions are taken and documented before product disposition.
  • Monitor and verify the proper function of metal detectors(HACCP plan's CCP's.
  • Report any deviation or issue to management and complete CCP corrective action form, as necessary.
  • Complete document daily test equipment calibration requirements and make necessary adjustments, as needed.
  • Accurately completes line verification checks, as required.
  • Accurately completes entries and maintains logs of daily activities, test results, and all required daily paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for finished product package inspections, including verification of product and box labels, code dates, seal, weights, and package integrity.
  • Ensure proper collection, labeling, and storage of quality "Retain Samples" and QA sample log.
  • Provide verification of product labeling practices for each batch of product using the Label Verification Form.
  • Place non-conforming product and materials on hold. Maintain, and ensure "hold" logs up to date, while adhering to company policies and procedures. Immediately reports any issues to Quality and/or Plant Manager.
  • Responsible to have a thorough understanding of the operating equipment used, regular day-to-day operations, and any changes made to equipment.
  • Responsible for checking production schedule to coordinate the processing of any unexpired 'Rework" product available to the operations area.
  • Assures a safe, clean, sanitized work environment that meets and exceeds FDA, EPA, OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Work with operations personnel on quality and safety issues.
  • Reports any housekeeping issues that need attention to management.
