The Quality Assurance Technician performs laboratory tests or other laboratory work using conventional and computerized machines and work aids. This role involves conducting laboratory work and tests according to prescribed standards, determining chemical and physical characteristics or composition, and setting up, adjusting, and operating laboratory equipment and instruments. The QA Tech is responsible for efficiently and accurately performing tasks related to the testing of products and setting of samples. They must maintain communication with other departments and employees to notify them of any problems or concerns that may restrict production. Additionally, the technician is responsible for adhering to food safety and quality system requirements, ensuring all paperwork is filled out clearly and accurately, and maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe work area. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • Perform laboratory tests and work using conventional and computerized machines.
  • Determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Perform microbiological and chemical testing of finished products and raw materials.
  • Involvement in product weight control and antibiotic testing.
  • Maintain lab equipment and ensure calibration and sanitation.
  • Communicate with other departments regarding production issues.
  • Obtain and maintain State certification for antibiotic testing.
  • Adhere to food safety and quality system requirements.
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and in accordance with SOPs.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and maintain a safe work area.
  • Wear required PPE in designated areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or 2-3 years related experience in micro lab in lieu of degree.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations in all units of measure.
  • Experience within the food and beverage industry preferred.
  • Ability to flavor milk-based, sugar-based, and caffeine-based products.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, and bend for virtually the entire shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally, including overhead.
  • Must be able to work in a wet environment and may be exposed to chemicals, eggs, strawberries, milk products, and nuts.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must pass all pre-employment screens (including drug, background, and criminal checks).
  • Experience in a microbiological lab setting.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality control processes.
