The Quality Assurance Technician performs laboratory tests or other laboratory work using conventional and computerized machines and work aids. This role involves performing laboratory work and tests according to prescribed standards, determining chemical and physical characteristics or composition, and setting up, adjusting, and operating laboratory equipment and instruments. The QA Tech is responsible for efficiently and accurately performing tasks related to the testing of product and setting of samples. Responsibilities include familiarity with all applicable equipment and providing quality inspections on all related items, performing microbiological and chemical testing of finished products, raw materials, and associated items as required. The technician will also be involved in product weight control, antibiotic testing, lab equipment maintenance and calibration, and lab sanitation. Maintaining communication with other departments and employees to notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict production is essential. The technician must obtain and maintain State certification for antibiotic testing within company guidelines and adhere to food safety and quality system requirements by committing to meet all pertinent regulatory, customer, and SQF requirements. Ensuring all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format, and completed with required information is crucial. The technician must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area, and follow all required work safe practices, including wearing all required PPE in designated areas. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
