Serve as Food Safety Plan Lead for the plant, maintaining and reviewing the HACCP/Food Safety Plan and verifying prerequisite programs (PRPs) through structured monthly internal audits. Adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP requirements across all plant operations to ensure food safety and regulatory compliance. Lead third-party and customer audits (BRC, FDA, customer-specific), ensuring site readiness and serving as the primary point of contact during inspections. Lead site QA and laboratory operations in a regulated food manufacturing environment, overseeing product release, compliance inspections, and daily quality activities. Oversee quality related activities in Infor M3, including the entry and review of inspection and test results, management of inventory holds and releases, generation and verification of Certificates of Analysis, and support of lot traceability and recall readiness, performing these functions directly or through trained lab personnel. Own the internal audit system, conducting and reviewing monthly GMP audits and ensuring timely corrective actions and closure within the audit tracking system. Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Procurement, and Corporate Quality to investigate and resolve quality events and strengthen preventive controls. Investigate quality deviations, including customer complaints, and complete corrective and preventive actions with root cause analysis. Monitor all product holds and product deviations, and document appropriately. Oversees QA technician’s performance including scheduling, training, coaching, performance management, disciplinary actions, and timecard approvals. Develop and conduct food safety and quality training programs, ensuring all regulatory and corporate training requirements are completed. Review and verify quality and food safety documentation, including but not limited to swab sheets, batch cards, weight control sheets, positive release sheets, and line checks. Manage the calibration and preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment, ensuring instruments such as refractometers, moisture analyzers, fat/salt analyzers, gas chromatographs, and color spectrometers are properly calibrated and operational. Oversees the laboratory proficiency programs and third party laboratory services as well as lab certification programs. This includes but is not limited to New Jersey Department of Environment laboratory certification program, American Oil Chemist Society lab certification program, liaison between the lab an ESML and Merieux lab services. Develop, update and maintain all laboratory standard operating procedures and documentation. ensuring proper version control and distribution through PolicyTech or other document management system. Ensures safety stock levels of laboratory supplies are maintained, including but not limited to titration chemical orders, chemical waste, environmental monitoring sponges, swabs for ATP, GC standards, sample collection containers, lab supplies such as metal detectable writing utensils, flashlights, calculators, etc. Provides the direct Manager with schedule and up to date information regarding lab operations, food safety and quality deviations. Follow all safety and environmental rules and regulations applicable to the position. Additional duties as required by direct Manager.
