About The Position

Under the direction of the FSQA Manager, this position is responsible for delivering food safety, quality assurance, and R&D services for a facility housing approximately 400 associates. This is a developmental position, and the employee must demonstrate, through experience, education, and performance, the ability to move up within Daily’s and Seaboard Foods.

Requirements

  • BA degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in quality and food safety in a supervisory role.
  • Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to read, write and speak English. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), record-keeping, and the ability to develop procedures as needed.
  • Ability to deal with changing objectives, deadlines, and priorities beyond one’s control as needed.
  • Able to remain calm and unemotional under stress.
  • Proven ability to motivate, coach, and train employees.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with meat processing is a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for quality and food safety accountability during all hours of operation.
  • Responsible for the oversight, management, and development of approximately 8 FSQA technicians and 1 document coordinator.
  • Review existing product specifications and standards, develop and implement various testing and sampling procedures, prepare related reports, and recommend solutions.
  • Plan, coordinate and direct the quality assurance processes designed to ensure that all production is consistent with established procedures.
  • Apply HACCP, SSOP, GMP, and other food safety-related programs.
  • Facilitate training of technicians and supervisors to check for product compliance against product specifications.
  • Interact with USDA inspectors on all levels concerning issues with plant policies, facilities, and programs.
  • Ability to train, develop, and increase skill levels of FSQA technicians.
  • Assist FSQA Manager with plant GMP, sanitation, customer, and regulatory audits.
  • Assist FSQA Manager with resolving customer complaints including root cause analysis.
  • Must adhere to Seaboard Foods Code of Conduct and Business Ethics Policy including the documentation and reporting responsibilities.
  • All FSQA technicians are required to be certified as Responsible Users for Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures. Must always follow Daily’s LOTO Procedure.
  • Train and supervise FSQA technicians in proper LOTO procedures.
  • If there are any mechanical problems, or unsafe conditions, notify maintenance immediately.
  • If the smell of ammonia is detected, notify safety department and maintenance immediately.
  • Do not run at any time.
  • Use proper PPE when required.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
