SUMMARY Radiographs metal castings and inspect images and castings for flaws and misorientations by performing the following duties. Grain Laue inspector performs visual and dimensional inspections on product in the grain etch condition for customers casting grain requirements and uses Laue x-ray equipment to measure single crystal grain angle. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Aligns castings on Laue unit. Processes casting in accordance with approved Laue techniques. Verifies grain structures are acceptable to required techniques. Monitors working area to protect personnel. Performs daily equipment preparation and radiation safety inspections. Grain Laue Level 3: Performs visual and dimensional inspections of castings in the grain etched condition. Performs Laue X-ray diffraction to measure grain angle in single crystal product. Trains and examines Level 1 and Level 2 Grain Laue inspectors. Reviews and dispositions MRB pending product. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma, general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to apply concepts of basic arithmetic and geometry. Ability to interpret drawings. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS Must pass near vision-JAEGER Type No. 1 test and Color Perception test. Must be able to maintain certification with periodic testing per industry standards.
