The Quality Manager will provide clear leadership within the production process to ensure products are consistently delivered to customers in accordance with established standards. This position will maintain positive relationships with internal company leadership, customers, and vendors, and create and implement changes to improve current processes and reduce costs. The Quality Manager will regularly exercise significant discretion and independent judgment with respect to the general business operations of the production facility. This position directly supervises the daily processes and procedures of the Quality Department.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate with management, colleagues, line staff, and individuals outside the company to meet departmental goals.
  • Demonstrates competence in the use of company systems such as JD Edwards and WMS.
  • Knowledge of current trends in quality improvement
  • Strong analytical skills with a methodological approach to problem solving and implementation.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills including the ability to present ideas, and/or facts and recommendations effectively.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret related documents.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WMS and JDE
  • Ability to manage groups through project implementation.
  • Excellent follow-up and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction.
  • Bachelors in Engineering, preferably quality, industrial, or other field that pertains to product quality
  • 5-10 years of experience in quality change management (driving, influencing, and inspiring change through communication at all impacted levels).
  • Prior management experience required.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ideal candidate will be or is willing to become HACCP certified
  • Internal audit certification prepared or willing to become certified

Nice To Haves

  • Prior printing experience, especially flexographic printing experience, a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Supervises daily workload for a staff of QA Inspectors, Supervisors, and Auditors.
  • Ensures all products meet and pass set quality standards
  • Supplies testing samples upon request for corporate QA team.
  • Conducts production trials – (i.e., roll stock, coating, films, etc.)
  • Reviews customer/vendor complaints and carries out root cause analysis and applies corrective actions
  • Investigates and resolves product and process deviations throughout production
  • Monitors GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) to ensure facility compliance through internal audits, training, and assigning corrective actions to department head
  • Facilitates monthly CAPA meetings (Corrective Criteria Plan and Action) and maintains monthly CAPA review logs and reports
  • Monitors SPC Program (Statistical Process Control) – Bowls and Plates, monitors waste, monitors Graphic Packaging roll rework and paperwork, and checks moisture and monitors customer specifications
  • Leads all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) external audits and all social audits
  • Conducts post audit meetings
  • Develops, revises, and archives all QA SOPs, documents, and forms
  • Manages the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) Plan
  • Assists with the development of new packaging (i.e., create new primary (inners) package counts, configurations, bagging, weights, boxes, etc.
  • Integrates processes, procedures, and best practices from other Unique Industries facilities
  • Engages with employees and leadership team daily by walking the manufacturing plant.
  • Facilitates monthly quality meetings, and participates in weekly Operations meeting and shift meetings
  • Establishes and adjusts manpower assignments to meet department goals.
  • Works with Human Resources to interview, select, and train employees to fill vacant QA positions.
  • Annually prepares performance evaluations for QA departmental staff.
  • Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills. Stays current with developments within the manufacturing and distribution field and shares expertise with others.
  • Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others, and works to maintain constructive working relationships.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to companywide quality and safety.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
