This is what you need to know: The Quality Manager will lead the day-to-day execution, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Type One Energy’s Quality Management System (QMS). This role ensures that engineering, manufacturing, and supplier activities consistently meet internal standards, regulatory requirements, and ISO 9001 compliance. You will serve as the operational owner of the QMS, driving structured processes for document control, audits, supplier quality oversight, CAPA, and performance metrics. The Quality Manager partners closely with engineering, operations, procurement, and program teams to embed quality into every stage of product and system development. This is a hands-on leadership role suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-technology environment and enjoys building scalable systems that support growth. You will also:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related technical field
  • 10+ years of experience in Quality or Quality Systems roles within engineering or manufacturing environments
  • Hands-on experience maintaining ISO 9001 or comparable QMS
  • Experience leading audits, CAPA processes, and supplier quality programs
  • Strong knowledge of root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methods
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with technical teams
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in highly regulated or high-reliability industries (energy, aerospace, nuclear, medical devices, or advanced manufacturing) is desirable.
  • Experience supporting rapid growth or startup environments is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Oversee document control and records management processes, ensuring current, controlled, and accessible documentation.
  • Provide supplier quality oversight, coordinating with the Supplier Quality Engineer on qualification, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
  • Plan and conduct internal audits, track findings to closure, and support external audits and inspections.
  • Administer CAPA processes, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and effectiveness verification.
  • Monitor quality metrics, trends, and risks, and support continuous improvement initiatives across teams.
  • Provide cross-functional support to engineering, operations, and procurement and relevant stakeholders to ensure quality requirements are understood and integrated.
  • Report QMS performance, risks, and quality issues to the Director of Quality Assurance and support management review activities.
