About The Position

The Manager II, Quality, will lead Quality team members and specialists across multiple shifts and facilities dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service for Chick-Fil-A restaurant Operators while ensuring food safety and the achievement of several critical key performance indicators (KPIs). This role will support multiple seamless lab and manufacturing operations. The Quality Manager II will help drive continued innovation and provide quality systems in leadership, supervision and training to BCF manufacturing facilities. You will lead quality and food safety teams following BCF guidelines, while monitoring product quality trends and implementing corrective/preventative actions as needed, leading to continuous quality improvement. This position manages the laboratories or production floor activities while participating in quality and food safe initiated improvement projects and provides temporary project support as needed for innovation, research & development (R&D) and pilot projects at Bay Center. The Quality Manager II is a champion for Growing Excellence and takes ownership of Daily Management Systems, Daily Direction Setting and OGSM to enable the facility to achieve the site’s CBN (Compelling Business Need). This role requires the flexibility to provide support to a 24-hour manufacturing facility and must be able to support all defined shifts per manufacturing and lab schedules. Additionally, regular weekend support may be required during increased business demand. The Manager II, Quality, will report directly to the Sr. Director, Bay Center Foods and will lead in a way that supports Chick-Fil-A’s vision and strategy while embodying the corporate purpose. As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $220,000.00 to $230,000.00 This pay scale takes into account a wide range of business factors and may change over time. Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry
  • Experience: 7+ years previous manufacturing QA/QC and/or laboratory experience in food industry and prior supervisory experience required

Responsibilities

  • OPERATIONS/LAB support
  • Supports multiple facilities and supervises teams of Quality Assurance technicians
  • Supports investigations on improvement projects (e.g. holds, customer complaints), helps to identify root causes, and helps to identify corrective actions and monitors for effectiveness
  • Provide temporary project support as needed for innovation, research & development (R&D), and pilot projects
  • Interpret and disseminate information on regulatory matters to operations leaders
  • Assume all responsibilities required for proper management of the quality and food safety team meetings
  • Coach and support Quality and Production team members across multiple facilities
  • Provide technical support and training to production and quality team members
  • Evaluate and supply adequate work tools to QA team
  • Develop and help to ingrain a strong culture of safety at the organization
  • Work with the Bay Center teams to drive adherence to compliance, risk management, and contingency planning programs through training, monitoring, and periodic auditing
  • Keep team members informed regularly on any documents changes
  • Maintain and audit Quality Monitoring Scheme (QMS), food safety programs and compliance to FDA, State Regulations and SQF requirements
  • Provide data analyses of finished products and customer complaints issues and drive implementation of corrective/preventative actions
  • Present quality trend data on a team level (production, operations and quality) for the purpose of informing and problem solving
  • Lead teams in improvement opportunities
  • Improve existing quality and food safety manufacturing programs (HACCP, Pre-requisite programs etc.) while incorporating new products, new processes and changed regulatory requirements
  • Develop, document and implement operating best practices for laboratory, analytical, food safety and product quality systems.
  • Support the Hold and Release Program by: placing all substandard product on hold in MES and ERP; determining hold product disposition with production team on timely manner.
  • Review, revise and write quality and food safety related procedures or work instructions
  • Manage ETQ modules with support of QA team members
  • Investigate raw and pack materials issues and assures documentation of non-conformities
  • Performs internal audit with other QA team members
  • Implement lab best practices and enforce GLPs and lab safety
  • It is member of Food Safety meetings
  • Responsible for investigating, documenting and reporting product safety incidents
  • Organize QA technicians effective work and ensures shift coverage
  • Approves time sheets and PTO days of QA technicians
