About The Position

The Quality Assurance Manager at Crystal Creamery is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance personnel and programs at the Modesto Plant. This role ensures that all products meet the company's quality standards as well as federal, state, and local regulations. The manager will lead initiatives related to food safety, quality control, and compliance with various food safety programs, while also providing guidance and support to the quality assurance team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Dairy Science or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in managing a dairy quality assurance department.
  • Understanding of the dairy industry and quality assurance programs.
  • Experience in monitoring, testing, and evaluating dairy products.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to provide leadership in quality and food safety.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Certified in HACCP, SQF, and PCQI.
  • Understanding of HACCP, GMPs, FSMA, SQF Code, food allergens, and microbiology.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure daily plant Quality and Food Safety operations comply with company policies and regulations.
  • Lead the implementation of SQF, HACCP, and FSMA programs.
  • Drive continual quality improvement as measured by Quality KPIs, including audits and quality metrics.
  • Supervise quality supervisors and laboratory technicians, providing leadership and training.
  • Serve as the liaison for food safety and quality audits and certifications.
  • Support management with technical expertise in food safety and quality issues.
  • Write and develop plant and laboratory SOPs.
  • Manage and implement the site CAPA program and collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Investigate customer and consumer complaints, ensuring timely responses.
  • Manage hold and release programs, as well as product trace and recall programs.
  • Oversee departmental budget, including supplies and payroll.
  • Manage allergen program and testing requirements.
