Quality Assurance Lead

7-ElevenIrving, TX

About The Position

Fuels back-office systems at 7‑Eleven support critical wholesale, fleet, supply, accounting, and transportation operations through a mix of in‑house and third‑party applications. As QA Lead for the Fuels Supply team, the role owns the end‑to‑end quality strategy and testing for the Supply Integration Hub, along with integrations involving the RightAngle ETRM and BestBuy supply optimization platforms. The position blends hands‑on test engineering with leadership, including defining test strategies, building automation frameworks, and guiding a team of QA engineers. It requires close collaboration with developers, business analysts, vendors, and engineering leadership to embed quality across the full software lifecycle. Strong QA fundamentals and the ability to quickly learn complex fuels and commodities domains are valued over prior RightAngle experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelors/4 Yr Degree
  • 6-8+ years of relevant work experience
  • 8+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior QA role.
  • Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or equivalent).
  • 5+ years of experience testing enterprise applications with microservice architectures, REST APIs, and event-driven systems (Kafka, message queues).
  • Solid experience with API testing tools (Postman, Newman, REST Assured) and performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling, k6).
  • 5+ years of experience with relational and/or non-relational database testing and SQL proficiency (PostgreSQL, MS SQL, MongoDB).
  • Experience testing data pipelines, ETL processes, and data reconciliation across integrated systems.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) and integrating automated tests into build pipelines.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable).
  • Proven ability to lead QA teams, define quality metrics, and drive a culture of quality across engineering teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present quality status and risk to leadership.
  • Ability to understand complex business workflows and translate them into comprehensive test scenarios.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior RightAngle experience
  • Azure cloud platform experience
  • ISTQB Certification
  • Azure/AWS Certifications
  • SAFe/Scrum certifications

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the end-to-end QA strategy for the Fuels Supply portfolio, covering functional, integration, regression, performance, and user-acceptance testing across the Supply Integration Hub, RightAngle, and BestBuy platforms.
  • Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks and CI/CD-integrated test suites.
  • Drive adoption of automation for API testing, UI testing, data validation, and end-to-end integration scenarios using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Postman/Newman, or equivalent.
  • Develop and execute test plans for complex data flows between internal systems and external platforms (RightAngle, BestBuy, OPIS, DTN).
  • Validate ETL pipelines, Kafka event streams, API contracts, and data reconciliation processes.
  • Collaborate with vendor implementation teams to define acceptance criteria, execute system integration testing (SIT), and coordinate user-acceptance testing (UAT) for RightAngle and BestBuy implementations.
  • Plan and execute performance, load, and stress testing for microservices and data pipelines.
  • Identify bottlenecks and work with developers to resolve them before production deployment.
  • Establish and manage defect tracking, triage, and resolution workflows.
  • Provide clear, data-driven quality metrics and dashboards to engineering leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Lead and mentor QA engineers, fostering a culture of quality ownership, automation-first thinking, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct test reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Embed quality practices into Agile/Scrum ceremonies — define acceptance criteria with product owners, participate in sprint planning and retrospectives, and ensure testing is not a bottleneck to predictable delivery.
  • Coordinate test environment provisioning and test data management across multiple integrated systems.
  • Ensure environments are stable and representative of production.
  • Communicate test progress, risk assessments, and quality readiness to leadership and business partners.
  • Provide clear go/no-go recommendations for production releases.
  • Stay current with emerging QA technologies, AI-assisted testing, and shift-left practices.
  • Champion experimentation that improves test coverage, speed, and reliability.
