About The Position

The ATF Quality Assurance Inspector’s purpose is to operate an internal quality assurance system as specified in the Tidewater Tech Quality Assurance Manual. This entails ensuring the operational and functional duties associated with operating an AWS ATF are strictly followed. They work directly with the Test Facility Manager and provides timely feedback whenever nonconformances are detected. Assists in providing constant oversight of individuals performing welding tests to ensure all requirements of the ATF are followed.

Requirements

  • NDT Level II Certification
  • High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
  • Previous classroom/laboratory instructor experience.
  • OSHA standard 10 training certification (within six months of hire date).
  • Proficient using computers and Microsoft Office software.
  • Must demonstrate an up-to-date knowledge and continuing study of the subject matter.

Responsibilities

  • The Quality Assurance inspector evaluates testing facilities as needed in accordance with AWS quality standards and the Tidewater Tech ATF Quality Assurance Manual.
  • Upon delivery of welding electrodes, filler material, or consumables procured for the Test Facility, the Quality Assurance inspector shall perform a receipt inspection to verify conformance to prescribed purchasing specifications and documents using Receipt Inspection Form. Welding electrodes and filler material shall be segregated by lot numbers.
  • Upon delivery of test plates for the Test Facility, the Quality Assurance inspector shall perform a receipt inspection to verify conformance to prescribed purchasing specifications along with documenting such on ATF Receipt Inspection Form. Test plates shall be segregated by lot numbers.
  • Quality Assurance inspector shall enter approved material info Test Facility material data base. Material will then be segregated from other material and be protected from environmental contamination.
  • At the beginning of each calendar year, the Quality Assurance inspector will develop and provide to Facility Representative/Test Facility Manager a detail self-assessment of the Test Facility. An appropriate sample size of individual students test files shall also be audited for compliance to referenced codes and standards.
  • The Quality Assurance Inspector shall assist Test Facility Manager in the performance of annual audits of the Test Facility. These audits will encompass methods, material, processes, NDT, record security, feedback forms, and any other facet of the Test Facility as directed by the Facility Manager.
  • Quality Assurance Inspector assists Test Facility Manager to ensure all processes meet the required reference codes and standards and performs other tasks related to the operation of the Test Facility as directed by the Test Facility Manager. This includes preparing all test documentation and test assemblies prior to scheduled test dates.
  • Quality Assurance Inspector assists Test Facility Manager in providing oversight of individuals testing along with performing visual inspection of tests both during and at the completion of the test. This action could require working outside the normal work schedule (e.g., different times and days) during the scheduled test dates.
  • Quality Assurance Inspector performs all preparatory actions needed to prepare test specimen for mechanical bend testing.
  • Quality Assurance Inspector performs mechanical bend testing of test specimens.
  • Quality Assurance Inspector performs any other duties as directed by the Test Facility Manager.
