About The Position

Purpose Brands, the parent company of Orangetheory, Anytime Fitness, Waxing the City, The Bar Method, and Basecamp Fitness, is seeking a Quality and Design Assurance Engineer to join its team. The Quality and Design Assurance Engineer is responsible for leading design assurance, quality, and reliability engineering activities across multiple Fitness Equipment product categories. This role oversees all hardware product quality matters, supporting both new product development and existing products. The position ensures structured evaluation and testing processes are in place to deliver high-quality, reliable products while maintaining compliance with all global certifications and regulatory requirements. This role has global scope and directly impacts product lines generating over $20 million in annual sales.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • Strong knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) and New Product Implementation processes
  • Advanced problem-solving skills including root cause analysis and corrective action validation
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and influencing skills
  • Data-driven mindset with statistical analysis expertise (MiniTab or equivalent)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • 7–10 years of experience in Quality and Reliability Engineering supporting both existing products and new product development
  • Experience working within global product and supply chain environments
  • Experience supporting hardware products such as HRMs, WASP-PoEs, and Fitness Equipment
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or related field preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification preferred
  • Proficient in advanced engineering tools (e.g., WASP-Util, nRF Connect Applications)

Responsibilities

  • Develop Qualification Test Plans and detailed product specifications for new product introductions (20%)
  • Develop and execute test procedures including EVT, DVT, and PVT in lab and field environments; publish comprehensive test reports and summaries (10%)
  • Provide stage-gate approvals including Production Start Authorization and shipment authorization based on AQL pre-shipment inspection plans (5%)
  • Oversee and guide third-party suppliers during engineering design to ensure product quality and reliability (5%)
  • Investigate defect modes, conduct root cause analysis, validate corrective actions, and implement preventive quality controls (25%)
  • Actively drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and reliability (5%)
  • Develop and implement ongoing quality audit processes for finished products and critical components (5%)
  • Conduct Quarterly Product Quality Reviews (5%)
  • Plan and manage all regulatory and compliance activities
  • Maintain active product certifications within shared compliance databases (20%)
  • Partner closely with Technology, Marketing, Customer Service, Global Operations, and third-party suppliers
  • Provide technical hardware engineering support to customer-facing teams
  • Operate with minimal supervision in a global environment
