About The Position
The Quality Abstractor is responsible for collecting specific data elements from discharged records to accrue an aggregate database for use in quality review and utilization review and collecting data on patients for reporting to the applicable state registry.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience in healthcare related field OR One (1) year of experience in abstracting.
Nice To Haves
- Two (2) years of experience in abstracting.
Responsibilities
- Abstracts medical records as outlined in abstract system.
- Utilizes abstract system for accurate entry of data.
- Abstracts data for CORE measures.
- Participates in ongoing data quality studies.
- Maintains and ensures accurate database.
- Responsible for reporting database maintenance functions including preparing and analyzing reports.
- Abstracts and reports data to the applicable state Department of Health Database following all rules and guidelines and meeting all regulatory deadlines.
- Provides statistical reports upon request to manager/director.
- Answers and assists hospital personnel and medical staff members with data collection and system guidelines.
- Maintains daily productivity log.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
