Requirements

  • Degree in a behavioral/social science field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work) from an accredited college or university
  • Current licensure with clinical specialty in the state from the appropriate state licensing board.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; hands-on training
  • Must be able to practice independently
  • Coursework and professional experience that indicates knowledge of mental health counseling, group and individual psychotherapy, diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders, psychological assessment techniques, crisis intervention, and mental health consultation
  • Must obtain and maintain security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, and deliver mental health care to detained and committed
  • Assist custody and medical staff in the monitoring of mental health for referred detainees
  • Coordinate with custody and medical staff in the management and treatment of detainees with mental health and/or behavioral concerns
  • Monitor and provide therapeutic support of segregated/isolated detainees
  • Support and supplement the activities of county mental health services in the stabilization of at-risk detainees
  • Coordinate with county mental health services for continuity of care and discharge planning via sharing of pertinent patient information
  • Complete documentation of assessment and treatment, as well as maintain records for referral tracking and CQI
  • As a part of the team, facilitate an atmosphere of safety, security, and responsible mental health care
  • Conducts administrative tasks associated with Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training, scheduling, management of MHFA instructor portal
  • Facilitates Mental Health First Aid courses and other mental health training, as needed
  • Development and presentation of training material in coordination with Spark Training
  • Management of CIERR program in coordination with corporate mental health team
  • Communicate regularly on progress toward defined goals
  • Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to the work
  • Serves as liaison between staff, corporate office and other areas within the facility
  • Acquire certification from National Commission on Correctional Healthcare and maintain certification
  • Create and maintain high performance standards in all aspects of program
  • Always maintain professional attitude
  • May be expected to provide direct clinical services on-site.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned
