About The Position

Senior Electrical Engineer The Hardware Engineering Organization at QuEra Computing is seeking strong candidates for a QPU Electrical Engineer to support the company’s mission of building state-of-the-art, manufacturable, and deployable neutral atom quantum computers. The Hardware Engineering Organization plays a crucial role in accelerating the company’s technology leadership and translating the company’s scientific breakthroughs into products delivered to customers. To accomplish this mission, we are looking to hire a candidate with a rich background of developing a variety of electronics projects from concept all the way through to production and support. The ideal candidate will have experience at both enterprise-scale companies as well as startups. They will have technical knowledge of at least one of the following: low-noise analog design, high-speed digital systems, RF systems, FPGA-based control, or precision timing - with the ability to come up to speed quickly as needed in the other areas.

Requirements

  • BS, MS in Electrical Engineering or closely-related field.
  • 5+ years of experience designing complex electrical systems, including both analog and digital domains.
  • Proven expertise in one or more of the following: low-noise analog design, high-speed digital systems, RF systems, FPGA-based control, or precision timing.
  • Experience with hardware bring-up, lab debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers), and system integration.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Altium Designer, LTspice, MATLAB, or Python for simulation and analysis.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary startup environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in instrumentation or control systems for complex scientific or industrial equipment.
  • Soldering/Rework experience for quick debug efforts
  • Experience working in a regulated or safety-critical environment (e.g., aerospace, medical, or high-voltage systems).
  • Hands-on experience with firmware development or embedded systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Designing precision analog, mixed-signal, and digital electronics supporting quantum control systems.
  • Collaborate with physicists, software developers, and mechanical engineers to define system requirements and interfaces.
  • Develop hardware subsystems including power delivery, low-noise analog front ends, high-speed digital control, and RF/microwave circuitry.
  • Capable of doing PCB layout (Altium preferred) and validation, working closely with other engineers and external manufacturing partners.
  • Guide bring-up, test, and debug of custom boards and system-level integration.
  • Follow best practices in electrical design, including design reviews, documentation, and validation procedures.
  • Strive for continuous improvement of system performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
