The Sr. QC Inspector will utilize their inspection experience to ensure the products coming from external and internal vendors are compliant with the technical requirements specified. This position is responsible for verifying requirements from purchase orders are satisfied, all needed and substantiating documentation is created and recorded, and all parts are released to continue down through production. The QC Inspector will work in a fabrication shop environment as well as an office environment. The fabrication shop may involve exposure to heavy machinery, welding operations, and metal or plastic fabrication processes. The role requires strict adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Occasional travel may be required to vendor locations to perform inspections or audits. JFT has implemented a 9/80 work schedule, and the office is closed every other Friday.

Requirements

  • Previous experience with mechanical inspection, programming digital coordinate measurement machines (CMM), measurement using hand inspection tools and troubleshooting sources of error is critical to the position is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working within an ISO 9001 quality management system.
  • Extremely detail-oriented
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
  • Knowledge and Ability to read and understand drawings, procedures, and applicable material codes as necessary
  • Ability to demonstrate a solid understanding of hands-on measuring and testing equipment utilized for quality control inspections of precision machined components
  • Experienced in generating quality inspection reports
  • Clear and concise communication style

Nice To Haves

  • QA experience in the application of ASME, NQA-1 and/or 10CFR50 Appendix B is a plus.
  • NDT experience including magnetic particle, liquid penetrant or leak testing (MT, PT, LT) is desired. ASNT qualifications are a plus.
  • American Welding Society Certified Weld Inspector (AWS CWI) is a plus.
  • Quality document submittal preparation experience is a plus.
  • Customer specification and drawing review experience is a plus.
  • Audit experience in a QA/QC role is desired.
  • QA/QC role in a manufacturing and engineering environment is a plus.
  • Flexible attitude towards working in other areas and overtime if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Gather needed certifications and documents required for our ISO 9001:2015, ASME, NQA-1 and 10CFR50 Appendix B quality programs.
  • Review and approve quality paperwork.
  • Perform day-to-day quality inspection functions from initial material receipt inspections, commercial grade dedication, and in-process inspections all the way to final testing and acceptance of manufactured parts utilizing calibrated hand tools.
  • Measure precision machined components and fabrications coming from our internal and external machine and fabrication shop against drawing requirements.
  • Measure and inspect components coming from our vendors for conformance to engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications; process standards and specifications; and production or process plans.
  • Visually and dimensionally inspecting parts and components in accordance with internal procedures, customer requirements, drawings, applicable codes, and standards
  • Create and maintain inspection records utilizing many different electronic information systems.
  • Fast, accurate reporting of defects or non-conformities using the JFT standard frameworks.
  • Accept or reject material and identify and document anomalies and non-conformances.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions, processes, technical drawings, etc
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Perform other job-related duties as necessary.
  • Overseeing and/or verifying compliance to hydrostatic/pneumatic testing
  • Liquid Penetrant Testing, when required
  • Assisting with ongoing Continuous Improvement efforts
  • Assisting with Internal Audit / Monitoring Performance teams, if needed
  • Successfully performing inspections/verifications for internal and external audits as needed
  • Working as part of a collaborative team, helping other inspectors with inspections as needed, and asking for help when you need it!
  • Supporting in the cross-training of other inspectors from time to time, to help build and facilitate stronger a more diverse inspection department
  • Ensure the accuracy of your equipment through proper usage and regular calibration.
  • Observe all safety, quality, attendance, and company policies/procedures
