About The Position

The QA NDT Level II Inspector is responsible for first-time quality of production work as well as ensuring production personnel conform to local and government procedures and specifications. Will report directly to the NDT Program Manager. Essential Skills and Functions Provide oversight for sub-contract inspection personnel (when applicable), and ensure technical accuracy of work being performed, to include reviewing inspection procedures being used on site. Interface with Project Management, Production Personnel, ABS Surveyors and stakeholders to ensure requirements are being met. Recommend corrective actions, dispositions, process optimization and modification(s). May need to attend meetings with customers or customer representatives, and/or travel for special projects. Oversight of Quality Plans, Inspections and Test Reports for multiple jobs. Perform nondestructive testing (VT/PT/MT) of in-process and completed work. Participation in Government Checkpoints. Ensuring verification and documentation of all work is being completed to applicable codes, standards, drawing and specifications. Ensuring that Production personnel are working to standards and drawings. Performing Quality Surveillances of in-process work to determine if specifications are met and ensure conformance to established company and regulatory standards. Review, analyze and report on quality discrepancies and data related to production. May be required to supervise Level I NDT Trainees. Duties and Responsibilities are subject to change at the discretion of the NDT Program Manager.

Requirements

  • High School or GED, GED at minimum
  • At least 2 years of NDT experience aboard Naval Vessels or MSC Ships in the following methods: - Level II VT (Visual Inspection) - Level II PT (Visible Dye Penetrant Required, Fluorescent a plus) - Level II MT (Magnetic Particle Yoke and Prod)
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to use a computer, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to obtain DBIDS for access to USN/DoD Facilities.
  • Ability to obtain Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to read drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items, Familiarity with Coast Guard Requirements is a plus.
  • Applicant must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and back-ground check.
  • Physical may be required based on position being hired for.

Nice To Haves

  • Active NDT Certification within the last 6 months preferred.
  • CWI experience a plus.
