About The Position

Primarily work as a QA Lead, monitoring NSP’s Quality Assurance Program, maintaining quality standards, quality integrity, and food safety for NSP. Ensuring that daily production operates within company and customer standards. Capable of making decisions based on standards provided by NSP QA Management.

Requirements

  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally.
  • Knowledge of use of a wide variety of measuring instruments and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP and SSOP.
  • Knowledge of prerequisite programs.
  • Knowledge of BRC requirements.
  • Must be fully trained as a QA Technician at NSP.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Ability to apply disciplined knowledge to analyze and resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Perform physical activities that require moving one’s whole body, such as lifting, stooping, bending from waist, turning and twisting
  • Must be able to shift back and forth between 2 or more activities
  • Must possess sufficient visual abilities such as depth perception to position platform or other lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, or materials
  • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Required to work in varying climate controlled conditions from -400F to 300F.
  • Occasionally required to work outside in varying weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual; English and Spanish is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • First and foremost, the QA Lead is responsible for working as a QA Technician and ensuring that these duties are covered daily.
  • Alternate weekend work with the QA Supervisor. In the absence of the Supervisor, the Lead will be responsible for performing record review, pre-shipment review, completing foreign material incident reports, SSOP and HACCP deviation reports, etc.
  • Assist in training new QA Technicians and developing current QA Technicians.
  • Keep supervisor/manager informed daily of problems incurred during the shift.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and accountability to QA Technicians.
  • Maintain good communication and working relationship with the quality supervisors, operations and USDA personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Record data collected from audits into computer based data sheets with attention to detail and accuracy. Graph and trend data using MS Excel.
  • Filing and scanning of QA paperwork.
  • Verify that product audit checklists are updated and correct.
  • Monitor QA technicians for effectiveness of job duties and relate to supervisor.
  • Assist in employee training in regards to Quality and Food Safety using Alchemy
