About The Position

Ergon Refining, Inc., in Vicksburg is currently looking for QA Laboratory Supervisor. The primary objective is to ensure that all lab technicians are adequately trained and proficient at the required test methods while also having supervision responsibility for the on-shift technicians including scheduling, coaching, mentoring, and training. The QA Lab Supervisor will be responsible for training QA Lab Tech Trainees, training existing technicians for advancement, proficiency checks on current technicians, and the development of training material.

Requirements

Four (4) year bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience as determined by the QA Laboratory Area Manager and Process Technical Services Manger
Minimum of five (5) years of experience with petroleum lab equipment and ASTM methods
Qualified as a Sr. QA Lab Technician or QA Lab Staff Member
Good communication skills with managers and employees required
Must have successfully completed and passed a Functional Job Capacity Evaluation (FCE)

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of petroleum products, the petroleum industry, statistics and computer skills are helpful

Responsibilities

Provide supervision for QA Lab Technicians including but not limited to scheduling, coaching, mentoring, managing leave requests, hiring, and justifying staffing
Conduct coaching sessions with QA Lab Technicians at least 3 times per year
Provide insight to QA Lab Area Manager and Management on employee performance and progression
Approve and manage time for QA Lab Technicians in conjunction with the HR department
Practice good laboratory safety habits and participate in all safety training as required
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment always
Maintain and follow ISO 17025, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 related standard practices and procedures
Organize schedules of QA Lab Tech Trainees until they are released on shift
Coordinate onboarding activities for QA Lab Tech Trainees with the ERI training department
Development of training materials for all QA Lab Technician levels including workbooks, schedules, and curriculum to be approved by QA Lab Area Manager
Delivering training content to all lab technicians as required
Perform a rotation on nights as the last observation step of QA Lab Tech Trainees initial training
Coordination of new hire training executed by another technician that has been signed off as a qualified trainer
Coordinate scheduling with the QA Lab Area Manager to allow existing lab technicians to train up a level
Performing training for promotion of existing QA Lab Technicians
Endorsing training certifications for all QA Lab Technician levels
Implementing and executing recertification program to ensure QA Lab Technician proficiency over time
Assisting in audit preparation by reviewing required test methods with the assigned QA Lab Technician(s)
Attend training courses and conferences as needed for professional development
