About The Position

The QA Inspector I is responsible for inspecting raw materials and/or parts, auditing production practices and processes, and reporting on non-conformances. Key accountabilities include inspecting parts according to blueprints and inspection criteria, documenting non-conformances, participating in the quality management system, and completing all related inspection documentation. The role also involves machine setup, which includes loading tools and dies specific to job requirements, and machine operation, where the inspector monitors and operates machinery to punch holes or shapes in copper and aluminum bars, ensuring quality standards are met. Quality control is a critical aspect, involving the inspection of finished parts for accuracy and adherence to specifications, including basic blueprint reading, first-off inspections, and in-process inspections. The position requires a strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols, including the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This role has been identified as "safety sensitive" by thyssenkrupp.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read and write English and perform basic math problems
  • Ability to learn correct use of basic measurement instruments (tape measure, scales, gauges)
  • Basic computer knowledge to complete data entry
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to accurately inspect basic material, commodities, and/or processes
  • Safety Mindset
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs maximum
  • Understanding of machining processes, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Understanding of inspection tools

Nice To Haves

  • Some college courses or certificates in Quality Assurance-related field of study
  • Prior experience using basic measurement instruments
  • Prior experience in a quality assurance inspection position

Responsibilities

  • Inspect parts as per blueprint and inspection criteria
  • Raise and document non-conformances

  • Prepare the machine by loading tools and dies specific to the job requirements
