About The Position

The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring that all elements of food safety within the Quality Monitoring Scheme are being met. Ensures that all regulatory, customer, and company quality initiatives are being met and maintained.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Required – 3 months of as a Quality Assurance Technician.
  • Must have good attention to detail and be able to spot defects on fast-moving production lines.
  • Must be able to gain a basic understanding of how different machinery operates as it relates to the quality of the product and adjustments that need to be made to correct certain conditions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to speak, write, and comprehend Spanish is a plus.
  • Must be able to perform simple mathematic calculation, including working with fractions, ratios and percentages.
  • Must be able to maintain good interpersonal communications and work collaboratively with co-workers, employees from other departments, and superiors.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite is needed.
  • Follow all safety processes and procedures set forth by site leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Post High School education preferred
  • Preferred – 1 years of experience as a QA Technician or other Technical department.
  • Ability to speak, write, and comprehend Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Complete Shift-To-Shift Hand-Off with previous shift immediately at start of shift to discuss the following: lines and products running, line shutdown times, on-going issues, things to watch for, QA and Production reminders, etc.
  • Check emails, specifically looking for any communication from QA personnel or plant personnel with regards to quality issues that may have occurred on other shifts and schedule changes
  • Communicate with QA Manager(s) to discuss and/or plan any special assignments or priorities for the day
  • Verification Review (of previous shift) for the following: pH, Moisture, Packaging Seal Integrity, Labeling Verification, Labeling Change-Over’s, etc.
  • Review and approve/reject all incoming raw material COA’s. File in the Food Tech office accordingly
  • Complete Daily Condensation and Leak Audit using Sanitation Leak Maps (delivered to the QA Lab weekly). Include visual inspection of the bulk Silo Room. Email summary of results to Sanitation and QA Leadership daily.
  • Complete Primary Packaging Label Content Verification inspections and document accordingly on all incoming films/warps and cartons at time of receipt in the warehouse
  • File and Maintain 3,000+ files in Food Tech Office (COA’s, Daily Lab and Weekly QA Food Tech Paperwork)
  • Assist in annual HACCP Verification and Validation exercises; pull paperwork as needed for QA Managers
  • File any completed and/or signed paperwork in designated filing cabinet in the Food Tech office
  • Communicate important or relevant QA Food Safety related issues to the following: QA team, QA Managers, and Production Leadership via verbal and email
  • Ensure QA Lab area is neat and clean and unused equipment is stored properly for the next shift (i.e. computer work stations, counters, floor, trash, etc.). Clean as necessary using supplies found in the QA Lab.
  • Maintain the integrity and cleanliness of all Production and QA measuring devices and instruments while using these devices to complete tests and verification checks on your shift
  • Understand and demonstrate competency when using the following programs: IPM SFA, IPM Assistant, Intelex, SharePoint, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, Checkweigher Program, Overweight Calculator, Data Collection Lot, and Lab/Network Printer(s)
