About The Position

Position Summary: The Quality Assurance Coordinator is responsible for the “on the floor” implementation of the John I. Haas, Inc. (JIH) Quality Assurance protocols. The Coordinator conducts quality assurance (QA) audits, monitors, and records results from processes and procedures. This position works in conjunction with the QA Specialist and/or QA Manager to take corrective action if deviations are found. When necessary, this position may be called upon to assist the QC laboratory. 40%     1. Food Safety: Responsible for supporting food safety prerequisite programs. Supporting activities may include reviewing records, completing actions, and reporting information back in the following areas: construction and layout of buildings and associated utilities layout of premises, including workspace and employee facilities. supplies of air, water, energy, and other utilities. waste and sewage disposal suitability of equipment and its accessibility for cleaning and maintenance management of purchased materials, approved suppliers measures for the prevention of cross-contamination cleaning and sanitizing, 5S pest control personnel hygiene, cGMPs rework warehousing – storage and handling of raw materials and finished products product information and consumer awareness food defense, premises access control, food fraud Pesticide Testing Program Works closely with warehousing and plant personnel to carry out food safety prerequisite program processes that may include: incoming material inspections ensuring completion of contractor training plant personnel hygiene checks Environmental Monitoring Program NCP/CAPA investigations and actions 30%     2. Support the Haas Sales Team and Customers by: Completing customer questionnaires and document requests Arranging internal and external analysis Providing technical information about products or processes Assisting with Customer Complaint investigations 15%     3. Works closely with maintenance and plant personnel to implement and maintain quality program processes such as calibration of equipment and the Document Control program 10%     4. Assists during internal or third-party audits of company systems to ensure compliance with requirements. 5%       5. Other duties as assigned Conditions of Employment:  1. Working hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Hours worked over 40 per week will be paid as overtime and must be pre-approved. Must be flexible and able to work additional time and weekends as business may require. 2. Must comply with all John I. Haas, Inc. policies and procedures, including successful passing of a pre-employment drug test and background check. 3. Must comply with our Integrated Management System (IMS) and be trained on procedures applicable to the requirements of the position, including managing significant quality, environmental, and food safety aspects. 4. Mst be able to stand for long periods of time. 5. Will work with/near chemicals.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree and related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to effectively perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Must have a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be collaborative, and always focus on continual improvement.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including strong attention to detail, and ability to efficiently manage time, workload, and resources.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in food sciences, chemistry, biology, biochemistry, craft brewing, or related field.
  • Experience with Food Safety and/or Quality Management Systems (ISO, GFSI, etc.)
  • Capable of successfully managing multiple competing deadlines
