Summary: The Quality Assurance Auditor prepares sales sample orders for shipment, conducts quality audits, and oversees the UPS replacement parts order fulfillment department. Quality audits will have three origins: Purchased finished goods, scheduled Suncast manufactured finished goods, special quality problem audits. In addition, this employee will assist with product quality inspection as needed. This employee will split his or her time between the manufacturing facility (701 North Kirk Road) and the two warehouse/distribution facilities, one approximately one mile and the other approximately thirteen miles away from the main plant. Driving to each will be necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum two years of manufacturing quality assurance experience required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in basic English. Ability to speak clearly and effectively to a group of managers, engineers, and coworkers. Bilingual a plus.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form.
  • Ability to use a Windows-based PC system. Good PC file management skills. Ability to use established databases. Ability to create Word documents and Excel spreadsheets. Ability to use e‑mail.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years of experience in an injection molding or blow-molding environment desired.
  • Course work in plastics or injection molding is a strong plus.
  • Bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and test sales samples as requested by the sales and marketing department. Ensure that the orders are completed in a timely manner.
  • Audit purchased finished products. These products will be manufactured by a vendor. Follow an approved sampling plan to determine if the lot conforms to Suncast specifications. Additional auditors may be assigned to assist with these audits.
  • Audit production according an established schedule. Use approved sampling plans and sample selection techniques. Report audit findings.
  • Perform non‑scheduled audits when prompted by quality concerns. This may be due to shop floor findings, customer complaints, or findings from sales sample preparation. In most cases these will be for finished products.
  • Oversee production repackaging. This may fall into three groups: Rework due to previously found quality defects, repack due to packaging changes, or conversions.
  • Assist with quality inspection efforts in the manufacturing facility. This may include assisting with weekend rotation to ensure inspection coverage as needed.
  • Stay informed of new technology, methods, and materials for this position.
  • Support and comply with all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping methods at all times. Suncast policies have been developed to ensure compliance with employee law.
  • Explain company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
  • Confer with the Human Resources and the department manager on staffing, hiring, and disciplining employees.
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Assist workers in resolving work related problems.
  • Prepare required annual personnel performance reviews in a timely basis.
