About The Position

We are looking for a highly experienced Tech Lead / Staff Engineer to drive backend architecture and engineering excellence for a global e-commerce platform. This role is central to building scalable systems that power personalization, checkout, and customer experience. You will play a key role in evolving the platform from a traditional “browse and buy” model to a highly personalized, user-centric commerce experience, enabling customer-level insights and intelligent shopping journeys across global markets.

Requirements

Strong expertise in Python backend development
Proven experience designing and owning large-scale distributed systems
Deep knowledge of: System Design & Architecture Design Patterns Scalability & Performance Optimization Reliability Engineering
Hands-on experience building high-traffic, revenue-impacting platforms
Strong problem-solving and technical decision-making skills

Nice To Haves

Experience with Amazon DynamoDB
Strong e-commerce domain experience, especially: Cart Checkout Payments
Experience integrating payment providers such as: Stripe PayPal Apple Pay Google Pay Amazon Pay
Understanding of PCI compliance, security, and payment processing standards
Experience with global/multi-region commerce platforms

Responsibilities

Lead backend architecture across e-commerce and personalization platforms
Design, build, and scale high-performance backend services and APIs
Drive architectural decisions with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance
Stay hands-on with coding, contributing to production-level development
Establish and enforce engineering best practices and code quality standards
Conduct and guide code reviews across the engineering team
Collaborate with Product, Frontend, and Business teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions
Mentor engineers through technical leadership and design guidance
Lead initiatives around system performance, reliability, and scalability
Participate in deployments, monitoring, and incident resolution
Provide clarity and direction in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
