About The Position

The Heat Treat Pyrometry Specialist I is responsible for executing heat treatment analysis tasks supporting aerospace component processing. This includes operating heat treat furnaces, performing pyrometry tasks, and ensuring compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations. This position supports production quality and process integrity through a combined technical role spanning pyrometry and Heat Treat related production.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing or metal processing preferred
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic mainframe computer systems and familiar with Spreadsheet and Word Processing software; Database systems
  • Ability to read and comprehend correspondence and basic technical procedures. Demonstrated ability to read code/machine language, write basic reports and instructions to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts and calculations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios and standard units of measurements.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and follow instructions in written and basic diagram formats. Demonstrated application and execution of different problem-solving techniques while prioritizing workload, tasks and functions to internal &/or external situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace Heat Treatment or familiarity with NADCAP standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct periodic pyrometry surveys (TUS, SAT, CAL) and maintain equipment certification per AMS 2750.
  • Maintain, replace, or calibrate thermal sensors and instruments used in heat treatment.
  • Maintain all logs and data when it comes from TUS, SAT, CAL (Written/C3).
  • Interpret technical documents including blueprints, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Support continuous improvement in both heat treatment.
  • Participate in safety and technical training related to pyrometry
  • Performs emergency start-up and shutdown procedures on all heat treat furnaces and equipment.
  • Sets furnace temperatures and periodically checks for proper setting.
  • Work with Quality and Engineering for all NADCAP related topics.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Inspect and monitor equipment daily, report malfunctions to the Lead or Supervisor.
  • Ensure all tools and machines are operated safely and maintained in good working condition.
  • Follow blueprints, work instructions, and job travelers to ensure product quality.
  • Meet all internal and customer Heat Treat specifications and standards.
  • Identify and escalate any nonconformance issues or deviations in process.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions and Heat Treat specifications
  • Adheres and implements all company HSE policies, procedures, and practices.

  • Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.
  • Implements and suggests waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as recycling opportunities and elimination of paper waste.
