Requirements

  • Attain wastewater treatment certification within 12 months of position start.
  • Hazardous Waste Training Level 1; DOT Hazmat Training.
  • Licensed forklift operator.
  • Confined space training.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience managing manufacturing processes for PVC or similar thermoplastic materials, preferably in the automotive sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of PVC properties, formulations, processing methods, and application techniques.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Proven expertise in operating and maintaining PVC application equipment such as extrusion, coating, or spraying lines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to quickly address process deviations or technical issues.
  • Knowledge of automotive manufacturing standards and quality requirements.
  • Familiarity with process control systems and production monitoring tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of the spray equipment, process, and chemicals must be demonstrated either through job performance, certification, or through vendor training programs
  • Reading, analyzing and interpreting general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and or governmental regulations
  • Writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Leading discussions, meetings, presentations and forums
  • Communication free of vulgarity, profanity, hearsay and menace in spoken, written and published form
  • Electronic Communication Means (telephone, fax, video conferencing, web conferencing, etc.).
  • Mathematical concepts such as probability and standard inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions
  • Metric and imperial measurement systems
  • Statistical analyses
  • Specification and Problem definition, data collection, fact determination, drawing valid conclusions, and formulating clear recommendations
  • Quick interpretation and formulation of argument, counter opinion and factual statement for negotiation conclusion
  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Ability to simultaneously deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification preferred.
  • Experience with cathodic electrodeposition coatings and wastewater treatment for cathodic electrodeposition coatings preferred

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all EPA, MoDNR, and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain wastewater compliance with city codes.
  • Comply with Environmental Management System per ISO-14001 requirements.
  • Manage and oversee daily operations of the PVC application line dedicated to producing automotive battery trays.
  • Monitor process parameters to ensure consistent quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to PVC application processes, equipment, and production workflows.
  • Maintain and update equipment records, schematics, blueprints, and files in an orderly fashion.
  • Able to read and interpret equipment instructions, diagrams, schematics, and mechanical prints.
  • Able to read and interpret customer specs pertaining to power-coating requirements.
  • Manages and analyzes chemical levels in tanks based on data received from titrations, conductivity, pH concentration readings, parts appearance, and appearance of liquid in tanks.
  • Analyze pH, conductivity, and titration levels data.
  • Responsible for all record keeping of pH findings, concentrations, quantity of chemicals used, and any unusual chemical-related findings.
  • May use sampling, testing, and measuring techniques, and perform quantitative and qualitative analyses to determine water pollution levels.
  • May maintain records pertinent to special sampling projects performed in conjunction with governmental agencies and private institutions.
  • Ability to read complicated drawings, mathematics, handbook formulas, and a variety of testing and measuring instruments.
  • Analyzes processes in respective areas and recommends improvements in quality and productivity.
  • Train and/or assist in training other paint technicians to successfully operate and maintain the system in accordance with this job description and company policies.
  • Lead or assist in developing, implementing, and updating written operations procedures and inspection standards for all paint systems.
  • Solve and/or assist in solving production, quality, health, safety, and environmental problems to ensure optimal production efficiency.
  • Communicate with maintenance manager and maintenance area/shift leaders and other plant personnel about maintenance and quality concerns, providing complete action plans and status reports as and when required.
  • Work with production and other departments on basic troubleshooting and corrections for everyday issues.
  • Attend daily pre-shift meetings and carry out assigned workloads as directed by shift/area leaders.
  • Conduct shifts carry over with other employees and communicate issues.
  • Produce timely, neat, and accurate reports documenting paint and wastewater treatment system performance.
  • Conduct equipment calibration and verification; maintain necessary documentation.
  • Safely use equipment and chemicals required for pre-treatment/paint testing.
  • Encourage safety and good housekeeping practices and lead by example, including wearing specified personal protective equipment.
  • Attend training as required.
  • Operating computer and software is necessary to monitor system parameters.
  • Promote and facilitate Open Door process, effective communication, and Fair Treatment.
  • To work in a safe, quality-minded and productive manner with a sense of urgency to achieve maintenance deadlines and to attain production priorities as scheduled.
  • Participate in Continual Improvement activities.
  • Adhere to customer requirements, Business Operating System, and company policies.
  • Maintain punctuality and outstanding attendance record.
  • Follows and supports LMV Automotive System’s and Magna’s operating principles,
  • Supports efforts to achieve department goals and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey.
  • Works with vendors and/or contractors, displaying company values of honesty and integrity.
  • Works with all shifts in design and development of improving methods and equipment through continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
  • May be required to adjust shifts as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
