A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PURCHASING SPECIALIST I As a Purchasing Specialist I, you spend your assisting the purchasing agent by attending bid openings, mailing out of bids and scanning of documents. Other duties processing purchase requisitions and small purchase orders for purchasing manager's approval. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include maintaining vehicle records such as the vehicle title registration and license plate applications, renewals and recalls. When you are not out in the city, you generally maintain and administer P-Card transactions and records. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with skills in finance, and you find genuine enjoyment in what you do!

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalency
  • One (1) year experience in purchasing and financial accounting
  • Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record
  • Are you someone who prefers hands-on work?

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
  • Three (3) years' experience in related fields
  • Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred
