About The Position

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating the procurement of raw materials, equipment, and production-related supplies in support of the Portersville, PA facility. This role partners closely with onsite Operations, Planning, Finance, and Engineering to ensure continuity of supply, cost effectiveness, and alignment with plant-level procurement objectives. In This Role, You’ll Have The Opportunity To: Directly manage one purchasing team member (e.g., Buyer/Coordinator): assign priorities, balance workload, provide coaching, set goals, and conduct performance feedback. Maintain and improve local purchasing processes, controls, and procedures. Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers that support Portersville operations. Analyze market trends, material availability, and cost factors to support planning and risk mitigation. Review purchase orders, supplier agreements, and contract terms to ensure compliance with company policy. Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers that support the Portersville facility. Source materials and verify specifications using supplier catalogs and market data. Manage the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process, including resolving discrepancies and validating invoices. Generate and manage purchase orders in SAP based on demand, planning inputs, and plant requisitions. Facilitate procurement of equipment, tooling, and capital items specific to Portersville. Collaborate with onsite teams to verify technical and functional requirements for purchase requests. Perform other related duties as assigned to support plant operations.

Requirements

  • Strong negotiation and vendor-management capability.
  • Analytical skills to interpret cost drivers, supply trends, and performance data.
  • Effective communication with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems (SAP strongly preferred).
  • Understanding of procurement analytics, contract management, and cost-reduction methods.
  • Ability to move throughout the production facility and wear required PPE.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field and 3+ years of purchasing experience in manufacturing; OR Associate degree in a related field and 5+ years of manufacturing purchasing experience; OR 7+ years of progressively responsible manufacturing purchasing experience in lieu of a degree.

  • CPSM, CPM, or CSCP preferred but not required.
