We are the nation's largest manufacturer of steel wire reinforcing products for concrete construction applications. We manufacture and market prestressed concrete (PC) strand and welded wire reinforcement, including engineered structural mesh, concrete pipe reinforcement, and standard welded wire reinforcement for concrete reinforcement applications. The company operates eleven manufacturing facilities in nine states. About You The person we are looking for is energetic, works great as part of a team, and has a strong understanding of requisitions processes and vendor management. This person can effectively manage materials and effectively communicate with departments to support a demanding manufacturing schedule that produces wire reinforcement products to build American infrastructure. You are a key player in the success of the operation. You believe safety comes first to achieve and sustain Zero Harm outcomes. Position Snapshot A Purchasing Manager is expected to use Maximo, Insteel’s CMMS, to purchase all materials used by the facility, except rod, using a completed requisition as the source document or pre-approved minimum stocking levels to maintain plant operating efficiency. To be successful in this role you will: Work closely with the Maintenance Manager and General Manager to ensure monthly purchasing aligns with the established forecast. Create and maintain an approved vendor list for critical supplies in conjunction with input from other plant departments. Maintain stockroom inventory accuracy of 98% for both piece count and stocking locations. Coordinate purchasing between Maintenance Department and vendors. Establish and maintain "out of stockroom" inventory locations for items held within the plant. Oversee die and cassette rolls for draw and rolling for draw machines and maintain proper inventory levels. Maintain traceable purchase order records for Vendor pricing and delivery. Create purchase orders traceable to both originator and/or department. Assures all returned items are documented properly and credit received. Proper stocking levels are maintained. Ensure organization and housekeeping are achieved in the stockroom and satellite stocking areas. Minimize stock outages, especially for critical operational items. Properly receiving and storing materials to assure that no damage occurs, safety and environmental problems are avoided, and that no loss for any reason occurs.

Requirements

  • Broad technical training (high school + 1-3 years apprenticeship/applied trades training.
  • Accuracy and proficiency in the use of computers and CMMS programs to perform the duties as described is required.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel, Word, and Outlook.
