About The Position

The Purchasing Manager oversees company-wide procurement of materials, equipment, sub-services, and MRO to support construction and service operations. • 5+ years of procurement experience, including 2+ years leading a team in HVAC/MEP construction or service.
  • Strong negotiation, analytics, and vendor-management skills with a track record of measurable cost and lead-time improvements.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP purchasing (e.g., Sage, Acumatica, Viewpoint, or similar) and Microsoft 365; advanced Excel for price books and bid tabs.
  • Working knowledge of inventory management, contract terms and conditions, and basic risk/compliance. Familiarity with public/federal flow-downs and TAA/BAA is a plus.
  • Periodic warehouse and job-site visits; ability to walk large facilities and climb stairs/ladders as needed.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs for samples or small components.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or supply chain certifications (CPSM, CSCP) are a plus.
  • Familiarity with public/federal flow-downs and TAA/BAA is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own the purchasing strategy across branches: set category strategies (equipment, controls, copper/refrigerants, sheet metal, fasteners/PPE, subcontracted trades), drive cost reduction, and maintain target service levels.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team; establish KPIs for cost savings, OTIF (on-time/in-full), lead-time reliability, and inventory turns.
  • Negotiate pricing, rebates, consignment, and terms with OEMs, distributors, and service vendors; manage annual and project-specific agreements.
  • Build and maintain preferred-supplier programs and price books; run competitive events (RFQs) with structured bid tabs for transparency.
  • Partner with estimating and preconstruction to lock pricing for bids and secure quotes aligned to project schedules and specifications.
  • Coordinate with project managers, warehouse, and service operations to forecast demand, plan buys, schedule deliveries, and mitigate supply risk.
  • Oversee PO processing, approval workflows, and audit-ready documentation; ensure compliance with company policy and segregation of duties.
  • Monitor market trends (metals, compressors, controls, freight) to anticipate cost fluctuations; communicate risk and opportunities to leaders.
  • Qualify new suppliers, lead supplier audits, and implement corrective actions; track performance scorecards and drive continuous improvement.
  • Align with finance on accruals, budgets, and forecasting; support AP with pricing discrepancies, credits, and rebate reconciliation.
  • Safety and compliance: ensure procured items meet safety, warranty, refrigerant, and environmental requirements; maintain SDS and cut sheets.
  • Federal/compliance (as applicable to awarded federal projects): support flow-down of relevant FAR/GSAR terms to suppliers; verify Trade Agreements Act/Buy American eligibility where required; coordinate with the contracts team on documentation and supplier representations.
