About The Position

As a Corporate Purchasing Manager, you will lead a high-performing divisional procurement team of 5–12 professionals, managing $1–$2 billion in annual spend across 30–50 manufacturing sites. This role requires a strategic thinker who can lead cross-functional teams, build strong supplier relationships, and drive cost-effective solutions while ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. This role is enterprise-critical, requiring frequent collaboration with divisional executives and leaders in Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, and Quality to align procurement strategies with corporate objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field (MBA or CPSM preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive procurement experience, including multi-site and high-spend responsibility.
  • Proven track record of delivering cost savings, improving supplier performance, and managing risk at scale.
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, procurement analytics, and digital tools
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills

Responsibilities

  • Executive-Level Procurement Leadership
  • Own divisional sourcing execution for direct and indirect materials, aligning with Amcor’s global procurement framework.
  • Lead or collaborate on high-value contract negotiations, securing favorable terms on pricing, delivery, and quality.
  • Represent procurement in divisional leadership forums, influencing decisions that impact corporate financial performance.
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders and suppliers, ensuring alignment and timely resolution of escalations.
  • Drive supplier rationalization and compliance enforcement across all sites.
  • Support the delivery of savings targets and other KPIs aligned with business goals, providing regular updates and insights to stakeholders.
  • Financial Accountability & Cost Management
  • Oversee annual standard cost adjustments of raw materials for the division.
  • Monitor and report on purchase price variances (PPV) and lead corrective actions to protect margins.
  • Ensure team meets cost savings targets through strategic sourcing, supplier innovation, and process optimization.
  • Inventory Optimization & Risk Mitigation
  • Leverage advanced analytics and supply chain technologies to enhance raw material forecast accuracy, optimize inventory levels, and implement effective Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce working capital, eliminate obsolete inventory, and improve inventory turns.
  • Support the development of contingency plans to mitigate supply chain disruptions and help ensure continuity.
  • Supplier Performance & Governance
  • Conduct business reviews with strategic suppliers, driving continuous improvement and risk management.
  • Enforce compliance with Amcor’s global procurement standards, ISO requirements, and ethical sourcing practices.
  • Respond to ISO audit inquiries and ensure documentation readiness.
  • Monitor and report on vendor complaints, ensuring comprehensive corrective actions for quality, delivery, and compliance issues.
  • Cross-Functional & Strategic Collaboration
  • Partner with R&D, Operations, Finance, and Quality to support new product development, packaging transitions, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Serve as a procurement subject matter expert for ERP integrations, acquisitions, and digital transformation projects.
  • Leadership & Organizational Development
  • Train, coach, and develop a team of 5–12 procurement professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear performance objectives and monitor KPIs for team members to ensure alignment with divisional and corporate goals.
  • Manage workload distribution across multiple sites and categories, balancing priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one and team meetings to provide feedback, resolve challenges, and maintain engagement.
  • Mentor high-potential employees for succession planning and career development within the organization.
  • Ensure compliance and consistency in procurement processes across all team members and sites.
  • Address performance issues promptly and professionally, maintaining high standards of execution and accountability.
