Position Summary: We’re seeking a hands-on, strategic, and dynamic Purchasing Lead to oversee and elevate procurement operations across our portfolio of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products. This role blends operational leadership, vendor relationship management, and team development - letting you drive cost efficiency, on-time delivery, and process improvements across the business. You will manage day-to-day purchasing operations, mentor team members, collaborate cross-functionally, and have direct influence on supplier strategies and business outcomes. Requirements

  • Director level: MBA plus 7+ years of pharmaceutical/nutraceutical procurement experience, including 5+ years leading a team; or Bachelor’s degree plus 10+ years of pharmaceutical/nutraceutical procurement experience, including 5+ years leading a team
  • Sr. Manager level: Bachelor’s plus 7+ years of pharmaceutical/nutraceutical procurement experience, including 3+ years leading a team
  • Manager level: Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years of pharmaceutical/nutraceutical procurement experience, including 1+ years leading a team
  • Exceptional negotiating, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong ERP system experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize, multitask, and resolve issues quickly
  • Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Proactive leadership style with ability to motivate, mentor, and develop team members

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily purchasing activities including raw materials, printed components, non-printed packaging, and indirect materials/services.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team; adjust responsibilities to maximize efficiency and performance.
  • Establish and maintain vendor relationships, conducting regular on- and off-site meetings, interviews, and evaluations.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts and pricing, monitor delivery schedules, and execute purchase orders.
  • Ensure timely material flow to meet inventory levels and customer delivery commitments.
  • Monitor and maintain project trackers, cost-saving initiatives, and change controls.
  • Analyze procurement needs based on ERP data, inventory levels, and production schedules.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives for the Purchasing department.
  • Support department leadership in tracking KPIs, supplier performance, and risk mitigation activities.
  • Maintain accurate product and vendor data in inventory and ERP systems.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support operations, QA, accounting, regulatory, and warehouse teams.
  • Research market trends, regulatory changes, and new sourcing opportunities.
