About The Position

The Purchasing Buyer plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless procurement of materials and services essential for manufacturing operations within the organization. This position is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing high-quality products at competitive prices to support production schedules and company objectives. The Purchasing Buyer collaborates closely with suppliers, internal departments, and management to maintain optimal inventory levels and minimize costs while ensuring timely delivery. This role requires a strategic approach to supplier relationship management and continuous market analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. Ultimately, the Purchasing Buyer contributes to the overall efficiency and profitability of the manufacturing process by securing reliable supply chains and fostering strong vendor partnerships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of purchasing processes, supplier negotiation, and contract management.
  • Proficiency with procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Purchasing (e.g., Certified Professional in Supply Management - CPSM).
  • Experience with ERP system SAP.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and inventory management techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze market trends and implement cost-saving strategies.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability of purchased materials.
  • Negotiate terms, prices, and contracts with vendors to secure advantageous purchasing agreements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to forecast material requirements and schedule timely deliveries.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with warehouse staff to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and prepare reports on procurement activities and supplier performance.
  • Resolve any issues related to delayed shipments, quality discrepancies, or invoice discrepancies with suppliers.
  • Stay informed on market trends, new products, and industry developments to make informed purchasing decisions.
