We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Buyer, based out of our Sterling Heights, MI location. This role will report to the Manager of Purchasing & Logistics at the plant level. The Role: Utilizes best practices for logistics departments across the Corporation and implements continuous improvement wherever possible Drive materials planning process and inventory min/max management to avoid stockouts, expedites and overstocking Provide direction to suppliers and release materials required for supporting production Work with Plant Customer Service to ensure all Customer specific requirements are satisfied Assist with physical inventories and conduct audits/cycle counts Expedite required materials to support ongoing production Meet inventory levels, min/max values, as set by team Coordinate purchased part engineering changes with engineering team to minimize obsolescence

Requirements

  • Has a minimum of 3 years’ related experience in Purchasing, Materials Management or Supply Chain Management in automotive environment
  • Has post - secondary education in Purchasing, Materials Management or Supply Chain Management
  • Understands bill of materials, contracts, terms, conditions, purchase orders
  • Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • Has advanced Computer literacy skills – Microsoft Office applications and knowledge of ERP systems
  • Complete understanding of the IAATF 16949 policies and procedures required for the Purchasing and Materials department
