About The Position

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is looking for an enthusiastic, team-oriented, and goal-driven, individual to join the team as a Purchasing Assistant in Gainesville, FL . This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Purchasing department team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license required. Must meet and maintain LifeSouth driver’s eligibility requirements
  • Basic computer skills and experience with computer programs such as MS Office
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and equipment
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Skills in organizing and maintaining filing systems

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree preferred
  • One or more years of experience in purchasing, logistics, or similar work preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with updating data within the purchasing information system.
  • File purchase orders and related documentation in vendor files, prepare new files, and assist in maintaining the purchasing file system
  • Transmit purchase orders to vendors and suppliers
  • Monitor inventory levels in certain areas, maintain appropriate reorder alert levels, and help assess purchasing needs
  • Work with Facilities and Accounting to reconcile receiving discrepancies and update system
  • Interface with suppliers to support resolution of damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over shipments, and cancellations
  • Assist in updating and maintaining data regarding product and ordering information within the purchasing information system
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as requested by the department director, Purchasing Manager, and assist Purchasing and Business Office team members
