About The Position

The Western Sugar Cooperative has a challenging opportunity for a Purchasing and Storeroom Supervisor.  This position is responsible for placing and tracking Purchase Orders in SAP, to ensure we are getting the best product or service for the best price.   Customer service is critical to this position, being able to take care of the needs of production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, with an emphasis on degree in Business Management.
  • 2-3 years’ experience preferred, but open to person with no experience but has Purchasing experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with improvements in safety, productivity, and quality.
  • Experience using root cause analysis, behavior based safety techniques, and safety GAP auditing.
  • Excellent verbal, written, group facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent computer competence (SAP, outlook, word, power point, excel, safety process software).
  • Must be able to handle several priorities at one time.
  • Strong customer focus mind-set with the customer located at the plant.
  • Solid leadership and influencing skills.
  • Friendly, results oriented, and collaborative.

Responsibilities

  • Verify purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list, clarify items, and recommend alternatives.
  • Prepare purchase orders by verifying specifications, price, and availability.
  • Obtain recommendations from suppliers for substitute items and obtain approval from requisitioning department.
  • Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers, monitoring, and expediting orders.
  • Works with plant personnel to verify receipt of items and resolves shipments in error with suppliers.
  • Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents.
  • Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Accomplishes purchasing and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Constantly pursuing cost savings or improvement opportunities where possible.
  • Leads storeroom staff
  • Master the procure to pay process to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner
  • Make sure orders are placed on time to preferred suppliers or get competitive quotes when necessary
  • Track and control open purchase orders, ensuring delivery dates are met
  • Prepare and update all required paperwork for vendor products and ensure accuracy in all inventories and resolve any issues in sameMonitor all procurement requests of facilities and ensure accuracy in all inbound inventory and maintain records for same
  • Monitor and ensure accuracy of all inventory transactions and maintain records of all storeroom locations.
  • Work with plant personnel and AP to verify receipt of items and resolves shipments in error with suppliers
  • Oversees perform cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy
  • Work with maintenance to make sure we have the correct items in inventory, or on order
  • Oversees Storekeeper insuring information is accessible by sorting and filing documents
  • Work with Safety and PPE supplier to run vending program so we do not run out and avoid discrepancies
  • Oversees stock levels with preferred suppliers
