About The Position

The Purchasing Agent (PA) is responsible for product forecasting and ordering, according to Supplier and Odom Corporation specifications. The PA will utilize internal and external data to evaluate current business conditions and sales trends, to maintain adequate inventory levels of fresh product, and ensure that product remains in-stock and available to sell. This position requires a proactive approach, particularly with communication, and the ability to react with a sense of urgency to quickly minimize/reduce “Out of Stock” (OOS) conditions, while also balancing inventory levels that reduce the potential of “Out of Date” (OOD) product and the negative impact on margin.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)preferred; one to two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Highly organized, with a strong ability to work quickly and accurately while handling competing priorities.
  • Must be able to work independently and maintain professional composure while working with employees of different skill levels.

Responsibilities

  • Controls the purchasing of products of assigned brands and maintains a consistent days-on-hand inventory, with minimal stock outs.
  • Ensures compliance with state price postings through Pricing Coordinators.
  • Prepares purchase orders and transfers and verifies supplier invoice and warehouse receiving records.
  • Communicates with suppliers for order submission and product availability.
  • Utilizes proficiency with existing systems and Excel, to efficiently analyze data to be used for product ordering.
  • Maintains a consistent days-on-hand inventory with minimal out of stocks in all stockrooms.
  • Performs stock transfers between Odom stockrooms, as necessary.
  • Submit purchase orders and verifies supplier invoice and warehouse receiving records.
