About The Position

The Purchasing Agent I is responsible for procuring materials, supplies, and services for the organization under the most favorable terms. This entry-level role involves qualifying suppliers, monitoring supplier performance, evaluating bids, negotiating prices, and maintaining supplier information databases. The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in a related role.
  • Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications.
  • In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 4 years of related experience is required.
  • Basic understanding of procurement processes and principles.
  • Comprehensive written, verbal and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple proposals at one time.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in procurement or supply chain management [e.g., Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)].
  • Experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry.
  • Familiarity with procurement software and tools.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase materials, supplies, and services at the most favorable terms.
  • Qualify and evaluate potential suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier quality and delivery performance.
  • Evaluate bids and negotiate prices and terms.
  • Track purchases and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Maintain current database of supplier information.
  • Assist in resolving supply chain issues and disputes with suppliers.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand procurement needs.
