About The Position

Rear View Safety, a Safe Fleet brand, in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Purchasing Agent to join the team! The Purchasing Agent procures materials or other goods and/or coordinates activities involved with purchasing products and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies, for Rear View Safety. Requirements

  • Associate degree in relevant field or equivalent preferred
  • Experience working with an ERP based system

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with emphasis in business administration, economics or engineering

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing, availability and delivery.
  • Negotiates pricing with suppliers as necessary on new purchases or changes to existing purchase orders.
  • Investigates and evaluates new sources of supply. Interviews supplier sales representatives and continually endeavors to keep abreast of developments that influence procurement procedures and practices.
  • Prepares requisitions, purchase orders, and quote requests and is responsible to ensure the correct documentation is supplied to all vendors such as prints, terms and conditions, import/export paperwork and other related documentation;
  • Enters Purchase Orders and Requisitions.
  • Procure materials and services with or without the aid of the MRP system.
  • Manage and resolve problems regarding delivery, quality and pricing in a timely manner.
  • Track, maintain, and update lead times, pricing and futures for items ordered.
  • Expedites purchase orders to meet the best deliveries and advise departments of delivery status and communicate performances of suppliers, initiates corrective action, and follow up to ensure acceptable resolution.
  • Identifies shortages and shipping delays in a pro-active manner and escalates as necessary to meet the schedule.
  • Resolves discrepancies related to purchase orders and vendors Invoices.
  • Maintains reports and analyses as necessary.
  • Proactively maintains all open purchase orders, ship date management, past due purchase order management, and purchase order acknowledgement.
  • Maintain proper inventory for stocking levels
  • Reduces purchase part lead time and initial Kanban process where applicable.
  • Owns all communication and transactions between the company and select vendors.
  • File maintenance both paper and electronic.
  • Issues Supplier Quality Notices to vendors and returns.
  • Issues contracts pertaining to building maintenance.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
  • It is the defined responsibility of the Purchasing Agent to work with the Business Unit Leadership Team and National and Regional Team members to foster open dialogue, develop a team environment and culture, and create a strong morale and spirit within the team; promoting the sharing of wins, successes and challenges.
  • It is the responsibility of this professional will always present themselves in their role and in society in a manner consistent with the Safe Fleet Brand, including; maintaining personal appearance, vehicle cleanliness and condition, and follow customer entertainment guidelines.
  • As a leader within the organization, it is expected that this team member will set the example to their peers / subordinates and be accountable to ensure a consistent brand image for their team.
  • Using the Safe Fleet Performance Management process this professional will identify and document their personal development short term and long-term growth objectives and in conjunction with their manager, measure their progress to achieving these objectives on an annual basis.
