About The Position

Pup Program Manager position available with Paws for Purple Hearts and Bergin College of Canine Studies located in Canyonville, Oregon. The Puppy Program provides the foundation for Bergin College and Paws for Purple Hearts working dogs. This includes Service Dogs, Facility Dogs, Hearing Dogs, Senior Service Dogs, Scent Detection Dogs, dogs that read with children, and multiple other working dog roles. Requirements

  • Knowledge of and an ability to develop and operate a pup breeding, enrichment and training program
  • Sufficient medical knowledge and experience to assist in the health, nutrition and well-being of program pups
  • Responsible for facility management, cleaning, and maintaining safe, sterilized environment
  • Knowledge of and an ability to develop, collaborate with experts and help build and manage a simulated enrichment environment
  • Knowledge of and an ability to train puppies using positive methods
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply current pup genetic, enrichment and early puppyhood education research
  • Management and scheduling of puppy tech staff and volunteer puppy petters
  • An ability to teach classes in pup enrichment, early puppyhood training and cognitive education methods
  • Insightful and visionary early puppyhood breeding, education and enrichment program management, reporting, record keeping, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Local, state, national and international connections
  • A Bachelor of Science Degree (Cynology is preferred)

Nice To Haves

  • A Vet Tech license
  • A Montessori or elementary school teaching credential
  • A Master of Science Degree in Human-Canine Life Sciences or Genetics
