Summary The primary function of this position is to troubleshoot, repair, recondition, rebuild, and test hydraulic components with a strong emphasis on pumps, motors, and valves for Caterpillar and other OEM equipment.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems and component functionality.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and specifications.
  • Proficiency in precision measuring and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Basic computer skills for Caterpillar SIS 2.0 and company systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Promptly review work schedule, check equipment and supplies, and prepare for operations.
  • Disassemble and inspect hydraulic pumps, motors, and valves using precision measuring tools and OEM specifications.
  • Verify findings and develop repair plans based on measurements and Caterpillar reusability guidelines.
  • Order or obtain appropriate parts for repairs.
  • Prepare parts for reassembly through polishing, honing, buffing, and cleaning.
  • Reassemble and test hydraulic components, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Document service reports accurately within company systems.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Secure all equipment and complete required paperwork at the end of shift.
  • Perform hydraulic performance testing and diagnostics.
  • Analyze failure modes of pumps and motors.
  • Interpret pressure, flow, and efficiency data.
  • Other duties as assigned.
