Summary The primary function of this position is to troubleshoot, repair, recondition, rebuild and test Caterpillar and other OEM hydraulic components such as cylinders, pumps, motors and valves.

Requirements

  • Must have earned a High School Diploma, or a GED.
  • Must have 5 year of work experience in hydraulics or a related field.
  • Must read, write, communicate in English as it relates to this job and safety regulations.
  • Must meet the ergonomic and physical requirements, as well as the physical base scores for this position.
  • Must be able to use, or learn to use, the equipment and tools used to perform this job.
  • Must be able to perform all job functions safely.
  • Must meet the company performance standards for the job.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Basic computer skills to utilize Caterpillar SIS 2.0 (Parts and technical information) and company-related systems
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Promptly, at start of shift, review work schedule, check equipment and supplies required to perform the work scheduled, and prepare for operations
  • Disassembly and inspection of components for reusability or repair options utilizing precision measuring tools, Caterpillar reusability and salvage guidelines, Caterpillar and OEM specifications
  • Verify findings, measurements and procedures to develop a plan for repairs
  • Order or obtain from stock the appropriate parts needed to make the repairs.
  • Perform the necessary steps to prepare the parts for reassembly utilizing tools for polishing, honing, buffing and cleaning.
  • Reassemble and test components and perform quality checks after work is complete.
  • Writing service reports within company systems
  • Painting components and pressure wash components when necessary.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • At end of shift, secure all equipment and machinery, and complete all required paperwork.
  • Other duties as assigned.
