About The Position

The Pump Division Manager is responsible for working with Project Managers, Foreman, Mechanics and Machinists to complete high quality repairs on horizontal split case pumps, overhung pumps, vertical turbine pumps, vertical centrifugal pumps and other high-energy rotating equipment. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to follow and improve established procedures while mentoring others and collaborating within a skilled team. This role also requires regular interaction with other management teams from Quality, Engineering, Transportation, Purchasing, Field Service, Executive Management, and others. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded, team player who takes pride in quality workmanship, understands both the technical and practical aspects of pump repair and assembly, and can handle complex repairs across a variety of pump types.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with pump repair and supervision.
  • Proficiency in standard computer programs and software (MS Office, etc.)
  • Excellent knowledge of various pump types and repair techniques
  • Strong understanding of LEAN Manufacturing techniques and 5S Principles
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manual/drawings, and repair specifications.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership ability and willingness to mentor and train junior employees.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely in a team environment and comply with all EMC policies and procedures.
  • Participate and/or conduct applicable production meetings and pre-job briefs with pump division team leads to review job expectations and checklists.
  • Oversee all relevant company processes and systems
  • Track operational costs, responsible for Departmental Income Statement
  • Responsible for Departmental Forecasting, Job Pricing, Invoicing, Profit Margins
  • Direct Correspondence with Customers and Vendors
  • Oversee and aid development of relevant company initiatives and applicable procedural revisions/needs
  • Determine Training needs for key employees / departments
  • 1. Direct Reports Include Project Managers, Mechanics, Machinists, Shop Foreman
  • Set regular performance goals (quarterly/monthly/weekly job completion targets)
  • Determine / Track / Monitor Foreman performance against set goals
  • Maintain strong accountability of all direct reports and shop supervisors
  • Regular involvement with Customer Visits, Tours, etc.
  • Point of Escalation for coordinating shared resource needs with other shop Foreman (Rewind/Weld/QC/Machine Shop/sandblasting/etc.)
  • Maintain ALL equipment used by direct reports (responsible for coordinating with Facilities Manager for repairs)
  • Maintain ALL buildings/grounds/facilities maintenance (responsible for coordinating with Facilities Manager for repairs)
  • Regular review of applications and resumes to aid in recruiting and hiring employees (First Round Review after HR)
  • Daily investigation of every Rework or Delay Item. Coordinate corrective actions with Quality Dept.
  • Daily involvement with direct reports on Safety, Rework, Equipment Needs/Updates, Warranties, Late deliveries
  • Multi-task effectively in a fast-paced and unpredictable environment.
  • Complete and maintain all records, reports, photos, and documentation accurately.
  • Work overtime as needed to meet production schedules and customer demands.
